These are pictures we took while walking around the Talkeetna River area in Talkeetna. Story about the moose is that it had already made it across that wide river once and was headed for the bank when our train came along scaring it back out into the water. It was estimated to weigh in about 1,100 pounds according to the local news station that filmed its crossing. Go figure. Thing about that silt is that dry it is as fine as smoke but wet is like clay but trying to cross it under the wrong conditions can cause you to get very stuck and require a very special rescue. How the moose can maneuver in such a condition without getting stuck is beyond me.
